In Microsoft’s Flight Simulators, the big jets are just bigger, heavier, faster versions of the smaller aircraft – you operate them in the same way; load them up, start the engines, and take off and fly around, and eventually land. It’s a little odd that the autopilot in the 737 or 747 or 777 doesn’t do anything more than the autopilot in the Baron or the Lear, isn’t it?
On the other hand, a sophisticated aircraft add-on such as the PMDG 737NG is designed for people who want to more fully experience the complexity of the transport airplanes. The good news is that you can master the various systems and methods of operation to fly the airplane. The bad news is that you must master the various systems and methods of operation before you can fly the airplane.
